Beautiful and elegant this historic home is on the Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway. Built from native cypress by a Galena physician in the Victorian style in 1880, the house features 9 and 10-foot ceilings, southern heart pine flooring, 6-inch window and door casings, crown molding, and 9-inch base boards. Completely renovated in 1948 by the then mayor of Galena, the exterior style was recast into a more easily maintained Colonial. The house was totally renovated again in 1991 with multiple upgrades including two zone air conditioning, increased insulation and double pane windows, new bath fixtures, period lighting fixtures, and 200 amp circuit breaker electrical service augmented later with a 17 KW emergency generator. In 1996 an addition of a master bedroom suite with fireplace and large marble bath was added. A pool house entertainment pavilion was constructed four years ago. Important to a new owner, a new roof and new main furnace were installed within the last two years. In 2016 the kitchen again had a makeover and features a Ubo Tubo granite counter with double stainless sink, double oven, gas cook top, and microwave oven. All designer window treatments remain.

The property was income producing as a bed and breakfast ( for more than twenty years. It is a perfect family home with pool and room on the property for a tennis court or bocce court. With little modification it could feature a mother/daughter or in-law accommodation with privacy for all. In this age of AirB&B you can be in business immediately.

A must see home!

What I Love About This Home:

We enjoy a truly four season home. Warm and cozy with four fireplaces in winter and high speed internet for Netflix movies. We delight in moving onto the spacious screened porch in the warmer months for every meal of the day. Summer brings a home grown bountiful harvest of fresh picked raspberries for breakfast, raised bed garden vegetables, and fruits from the orchard; peaches, apples, figs, and plums. Entertaining has so many venues from the formal dining room, the large porch, the informal eat-in kitchen, to the pool deck. The pool pavilion has the luxury of solar heated water for swimming and cookouts at the edge of the season and solar heated water for a full bath and kitchen facilities. For holiday gatherings in this Chesapeake Bay orientated location, the home provides space for the largest of family visits.
